FAQs
1. How can I share my photos while keeping them encrypted?
You can securely share your albums by adding friends as viewers or collaborators within the Ente app. If they don’t use Ente, you can still share via a secure link, which lets them view—and optionally upload—photos directly in their browser, all while maintaining end-to-end encryption.
2. What does “Ente” mean, and why the duck?
"Ente" (pronounced entay) means "mine" in Malayalam—perfect for a photo app that puts you in control. Interestingly, “ente” also means “duck” in German, which inspired the app’s friendly duck mascot, representing privacy and ownership of your memories.
3. Is there a file size limit for uploads?
Yes, currently Ente supports individual files up to 4 GB in size. Larger files aren’t supported at this time.
4. Does Ente compress my photos and videos?
Not at all. Ente stores your photos and videos in original quality, without any compression or loss. All metadata is preserved to keep your media intact.
5. Can I use Ente on multiple devices?
Absolutely! Ente Photos is available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, and web browsers, so you can access and manage your library from anywhere.
