About AVR-Remote for Denon/Marantz

AVR-Remote for Denon/Marantz

Overview

• AVR-Remote is a streamlined and efficient mobile application designed to provide remote control functionality for Denon and Marantz network-connected Audio/Video Receivers (AVR).

• This application serves as a lightweight alternative to traditional hardware remotes, allowing users to manage their home theater systems directly from their mobile devices using local network protocols.

Connectivity Requirements

• The mobile device running the application and the receiver must be connected to the same Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN).

• Communication occurs over the network interface; therefore, physical line-of-sight between the phone and the receiver is not necessary.

• Models that lack a built-in network interface or an Ethernet port are not supported by this application.

Supported Denon Models

• Support is provided for legacy and modern units including the AVR-990, 991, 1613, 1713, 1912, 1913, 2112, 2113, 2312, 2313, 3310, 3311, 3312, and 3313.

• High-end and specialty models include the 3808, 4306, 4308, 4310, 4311, 4520, 4806, 4810, 5308, 5805, DN-500AV, and A1HD.

• The X-Series and E-Series are supported, specifically the X1000, X2000, X3000, X4000, E300, and E400.

• Experimental support is available for the RCDN7 and DNP720AE.

Supported Marantz Models

• Compatibility includes the NR series (1504, 1602, 1603, 1604) and the SR series (5006, 5007, 5008, 6006, 6007, 6008, 7005, 7007, 7008).

• Support extends to the AV series pre-amplifiers (7005, 7701, 8801).

• Experimental support is provided for the MCR603, MER803, and NA7004.

FAQ

Q: Do I need a direct line-of-sight to the receiver for the app to work?

A: Not at all. Unlike standard infrared (IR) remote controls, AVR-Remote uses your local network to send commands. As long as your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi, you can control your receiver from another room, behind cabinet doors, or anywhere within your Wi-Fi coverage area.

Q: Can I use this app with a receiver that doesn't have an Ethernet port or built-in Wi-Fi?

A: Unfortunately, no. The app relies entirely on network communication to function. Models that lack a network interface or an Ethernet port cannot communicate with your mobile device and are not supported.

Q: What are the primary connection requirements to ensure the app works properly?

A: There are two main requirements: first, your receiver must have network capabilities (either via Wi-Fi or a wired Ethernet cable), and second, your mobile device and your receiver must be connected to the same Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN).
